## Summary

**Risk ranges** are customized scoring parameters that determine the _minimum and maximum percentages_ for low, medium, and high risk levels, respectively.

Each risk range can be [applied to a custom risk score](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360061668293) to help you set clear guidelines around how to handle entries within each risk level.

**Note:** Risk ranges can be applied to your team's custom risk scores at the [analysis level](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/13645850971671), but these changes will not impact the library's risk score settings.

**Note:** Changes made to the _Risk ranges_ section within a given library, including risk ranges being created, updated, and/or deleted, will not appear in existing engagements using that library. To see your changes in action, you must [create a new engagement](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360055739694) (or [roll forward](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360061700433) or [duplicate](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360058013433-The-Data-page-Overview-GL-AP-AR#h_01HGBYMNWY0Y8AKDFQNHA2KWB0) an analysis into a new engagement). All risk ranges in the library you select will be copied into the engagement _as they exist at that point in time_.

## Overview

This screen provides a high-level overview of the different risk ranges created by your Admin team, including:

- **Name**: The name of the given risk range.
- **Description**: The purpose of the given risk range.
- **Low**: The minimum and maximum percent associated with low risk entries.
- **Medium**: The minimum and maximum percent associated with medium risk entries.
- **High**: The minimum and maximum percent associated with high risk entries.
- **Status**: Indicates whether the risk range has been [applied to a library risk score](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360061668293) ("Active") or not ("Inactive").

**Note:** MindBridge's **system default** risk range is automatically applied to new risk scores, but you can apply your own risk ranges to [custom risk scores](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360061668293) and update them within the analysis.

### Find a risk range

Enter a full or partial search term into the **search bar**, then press **enter/return** on your keyboard or select the **magnifying glass** icon ( ).

### Organize columns

#### **Sort by name**

Sort your risk ranges by name in ascending or descending order by selecting the **Name** column header. The darker triangle indicates the sort order.

## Create a risk range

_App Admins_ can create risk ranges in the library. Existing engagements using the library will not be impacted, but these new ranges will be available for use in [new engagements](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360055739694) as needed.

1. Select **Create risk range**.
2. Enter a unique **Name**.
3. Enter a **Description** of the risk range to help your team understand its purpose (maximum 250 characters).
4. If you want to remove a risk level from scoring entirely, deselect the associated checkbox.

For example, deselect _Medium_ to remove it from this configuration, and only apply _Low_ and _High_ risk when scoring.

**Note:** At least 2 risk levels must be selected.

5. Adjust the range of each desired risk level using one of the following methods:
   - **Use the slider**: The slider marks the end of one risk level's range and the beginning of another. Move each slider left or right as desired. The percentage fields below will automatically update with your changes.
   - **Use the percentage fields**: The percentage fields clearly indicate the minimum and maximum values applied to each risk level. Enter your desired percentage into the appropriate field.
6. When you are satisfied, select **Create**. The new risk range will be added to the library with the status of **Inactive** (i.e., not yet in use) and you will go back to the _Risk ranges_ section.
7. If desired, [apply the new risk range to a custom risk score](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360061668293). Risk ranges that exist within the library can be also applied to your custom risk scores within the [analysis settings](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/13645850971671) of analyses using that library, regardless of whether the risk range has an **Active** or **Inactive** status in the library.

Select **Cancel** any time to discard your changes and go back to the _Risk ranges_ section.

3. When you are satisfied with your updates, **Save** your work. You will go back to the _Risk ranges_ section.

## Filter for risk ranges in your analysis

Once an analysis has been run with your risk ranges applied, you can use the **Risk range** filters on the following dashboards:

- **Risk segmentation**: Use the filter to further customize a given segment and gain deeper insights by _finding_ or _excluding_ entries with specific risk ranges.
- **Data table**: Within the **Entries** view, use the basic and advanced filters to better align MindBridge results to your firm's methodologies.
