## Answer

In MindBridge, you can [replace](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/21227537391255-FAQ-What-is-the-difference-between-adding-and-replacing-a-file#h_01HP59BMEHVCZVB6SK7R5XD311) the most recently imported files in the current and prior periods of any analysis as needed, even after the analysis has run, but when using the [periodic time frame](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/19030466572823) for a general ledger ("GL") analysis, you can also import subsequent files into the current period over time, such as monthly or quarterly; the outcome of this is a complete dataset that spans the duration of the defined analysis period.

### Replace a file

Using the **Replace file** action deletes a given file from the analysis and inserts a file of your choosing in its place. Note that a copy of the original file will still exist in the [File manager](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360056457214).

If you replace a file after an analysis has run, MindBridge will prompt you to run the analysis with the new data.

### Add a new file

GL analyses that use the periodic time frame allow you to import files on an ongoing basis.

After the first file has been imported, using the **Import file** action will add the next file to the analysis.

### Example

In this example, it is April 2022, and the user is in the process of importing files into a GL analysis that uses the periodic time frame. Based on their firm's methodology, they are importing data on a monthly cadence, and have imported files with the data for January, February, then accidentally imported the data for April instead of March. Realizing the error, they choose to **replace** the April file with the correct file (March), then subsequently **import** the April file so it appears in the correct order.
