## Overview

### Adjustments

Adjustments can be used to produce adjusted closing balances and create balances used in the presentation of financial statements.

This file lists accounts and account details similar to a GL file format, and provides any adjustments, corrections, or omissions to the original GL.

**Note:** MindBridge will ignore accounts from adjustment files that do not exist within account mappings.

### Reclassifications

This file lists accounts and account details similar to a GL file format, and provides the ability to move amounts from one account to another for presentation purposes.

### Eliminations

This file lists accounts and account details similar to a GL file format, and provides the ability to eliminate amounts. For example, cancelling out inter-company transfers within the GL.

## Select files to import

MindBridge supports several ways to select and import your files.

**Note:** When using a periodic time frame, you can [make adjustments on an ongoing basis using **either** post-close entries or adjusting files](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/19034004957591#h_01HGTQ32ZZPQ7ZMGGQCJEDPG15).

### Method 1: Drag and drop or browse

1. On the _Data_ page, **drag and drop** the file from your computer into the appropriate analysis period for one of the following sections, or **browse** for it on your computer:
   - **Adjustments**
   - **Reclassifications**
   - **Eliminations**
2. Once the file has loaded, select **Continue**. You will go to the [first step in the import process](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360059917334-Import-adjustments-reclassifications-and-eliminations#01FRRA9HSFY2K9Y6PG5XPTNA1V).

### Method 2: Browse file manager

1. On the _Data_ page, select **Browse** in line with the appropriate section: **Adjustments**, **Reclassifications**, or **Eliminations**.
2. Select **Browse file manager** from the menu. A selection window appears.
3. Select the file you want to use.
4. When you are satisfied, **Import** the file. The file imports into your analysis.

### Method 3: Import using a data connector

Data connectors allow you to import all available data needed for an analysis at once. You can [invite a client](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/1500001350402) to connect or [connect yourself](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/1500001276441) to a data connector.

Learn about [bulk importing using a connector](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360056329334).

## Step 1: Data validation

This is the first step of the import process, where you can verify the accuracy and completeness of the data by reviewing [file details](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/4404280793879-Data-Validation-Overview#h_01HFS6HCPQ0N1XJKTTHQZ25Y2T) and [integrity checks](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/4404280793879-Data-Validation-Overview#h_01HFS6HCPR5CPSRXZXK042MZS1) performed on the data. You can reveal additional details by expanding the [column preview](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/4404280793879-Data-Validation-Overview#h_01HFS6HCPR8PVK596YQW9FX97J) section. These details can help you determine whether the data has critical issues, or if you can proceed with it as it is.

When you are satisfied that the data is correct, select **Next** to proceed to the _Map Columns_ step.

**Note:** MindBridge will only analyze data on the first sheet in the file. If you have relevant data across multiple sheets, use the [split](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/4410791683351) and [merge](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/4410728102423) tools in the _[File manager](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360056457214)_ ( ) to extract and combine select sheets from the original file.

To exit the import process, select **Close**. MindBridge will save your progress and you will go back to the _Data_ page.

---

## Step 2: Map columns

This step allows you to map data fields from the imported file to MindBridge's required columns, so MindBridge can effectively read, understand, and apply analytics to the data.

MindBridge will attempt to map columns based on their name, so it's important to verify that all mappings are correct.

**Note**: For a detailed list of the expected columns in a vendor list, review this [data checklist](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360058268993).

1. Drag and drop each relevant field from **Your Data Column Headers** to the appropriate field beneath **Mapped Columns**.
2. If your data columns do not line up one-to-one with the MindBridge columns, use the **more actions menu** ( ) to [split](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360056395794), [join](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360058269753), or [duplicate](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360058269773) columns to make the needed adjustments, or [add a column for filtering](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360058269853).
3. When you are satisfied, select **Next** to proceed. You will go back to the _Data_ page.

To return to the previous page, select **Back**.

To exit the import process, select **Close**. You will go back to the _Data_ page and MindBridge will save your progress.

## Run adjustments

After importing any adjustment, reclassification, or elimination files, select **Run adjustments** to run these new files through the analysis. You can import current period adjustments multiple times, and run adjustments as required. Details about each analysis run will be recorded in the [_Run history_](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/19404752031511) section of the analysis on the _Data_ page.

The option to **View analysis** will be available prior to running the adjustment files.

**Note:** For a [periodic GL analysis](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/19030466572823), imported adjustment files will persist between individual runs, and are considered during each subsequent analysis run.

---

## View adjustments

Once the adjustments have been run, the adjusted balances can be seen on the _[Financial statements](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360056329974)_, _[Trends](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360056329994)_, and _[Ratios](https://support.mindbridge.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360058192513)_ dashboards.

1. Go to the dashboard of your choice.
2. Use the **Adjustments toggle** to show or hide the adjustments on these dashboards, as desired.

**Note:** Adjusted entries are not applied to or included in risk scores. Additionally, they are not incorporated into calculated closing balances, nor are they available during a roll-forward operation (as this operation makes use of the calculated closing balances without adjusted entries applied).
